A story of two best friends and a case of breast cancer...
On Friday the 23rd of July I recieved one of the worst phone calls of my life. It was my best friend of 20 years telling me that she just talked to her doctor and he told her that she has breast cancer. I will never forget the fear in her voice when she called me. My stomach fell into my bottom and I felt like I needed to throw up. The tears started rolling down my face and I told her that she would be just fine and that she would beat it. That no matter what, I was going to be right there beside her to help her through all of it. She then went on to tell me that they didn't have any ideas what stage it was in or the correct name for it and that we would find out on her appointment on Monday July 26th. She said that her appointment was at 6:40 am and that is when I needed to meet her and her husband at the Mercy Medical Center in Bentonville. So thinking about her all weekend and what the outcome was going to be, I was so happy to see her and give her a hug when I got to the clinic for her appointment. She then was called back into the room and Kelsey, her husband, and I sat for about 2 hours waiting for her to get out so we could know what was going on. We were then called back into a patients room and were given the news. The nurse told us that she has a cancer that is called Ductal Carcinoma and Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. They are two types of cancer and she had a combo of both. The nurse then proceeded to tell us that we caught it in the early stages and with God's healing hands she will power right through and beat this cancer. The nurse was very nice and told Tina to call her anytime with any question. She then told us that Tina would have to have an MRI in the morning (7/27/10) to make sure that the cancer hasn't spread to any other places. Then after getting the results from the MRI we will have an appointment with the doctor to see what the options are. Our appointment to see the surgeron is Friday at 11:30. I will post the results as soon as we see the surgeon. Thank you for praying for her. God bless...
